Reef Rescue R&D will improve our understanding of the link between land management practices and environmental impacts, and improve water quality across the Great Barrier Reef by supporting a reduction in the amount of nutrients, chemicals and sediments reaching the Reef from agricultural lands.

Reef Rescue R&D incorporates three main sub programs:

  1. Adoption and development of sustainable practices that improve water quality outcomes for the sugar, grazing, horticulture and dairy industries
  2. Pesticide threat, delivery and management; and
  3. Improved techniques for monitoring and reporting the success of water quality investments.
