Welcome

Welcome to the Reef Rescue Water Quality Research and Development Program website.

The Reef Rescue Research and Development Water Quality Program (Reef Rescue R&D) was designed to improve our understanding of the link between land management practices and environmental impacts, and improve water quality across the Great Barrier Reef by supporting a reduction in the amount of nutrients, chemicals and sediments reaching the Reef from agricultural lands.

Reef Rescue R&D was funded under the Australian Government's Caring for our Country program 2011-2013, and consisted of 18 projects.

On this website you will find project information, news, events and helpful resources including Research Outcomes Reports. A Final Program Report also provides a synthesis of the research findings.

The Reef and Rainforest Research Centre (RRRC) coordinated Reef Rescue R&D and provided links between projects within the program, and to external initiatives.

In 2014-2015, a number of additional projects were funded through the Reef Programme, under  the Australian Government's National Landcare programme. Final reports from these projects are also available on this site.
